How does QuizScreen block apps?

QuizScreen uses Apple's official Screen Time frameworks. In App Management, you choose individual apps with Apple's privacy-preserving picker. When you open a blocked app, iOS shows QuizScreen's shield and directs you to complete a quiz.

Is QuizScreen good for students?

Yes, QuizScreen is designed with students in mind. It helps you stay focused during study sessions by blocking distracting apps like social media and games. Better yet, you can set up quiz topics that match your coursework—so unlocking distractions actually reinforces what you're studying.

How is QuizScreen different from normal Screen Time limits?

Standard iOS Screen Time simply blocks apps after a time limit. QuizScreen adds an educational unlock mechanism—you must answer quiz questions correctly to unlock blocked apps. This turns every distraction attempt into a learning opportunity while still giving you control over your screen time.

Does QuizScreen unlock apps instantly after I finish a quiz?

Yes. Once you complete a quiz by answering each question correctly, QuizScreen immediately removes that app from your blocked list. There's no waiting period—you get instant access to the app for your chosen unlock duration.

What happens after the unlock timer ends?

When your chosen unlock duration expires (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day), QuizScreen automatically re-blocks the app. If you select Forever, the app stays unblocked until you choose to block it again.

Does QuizScreen work with Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube?

Yes, QuizScreen can block any app available through Apple's Screen Time picker, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter/X, Snapchat, games, and more. You select which apps to block in the App Management section.

Are the quiz questions AI-generated?

AI is optional. Free mode includes more than 100 built-in questions that work offline. Premium adds AI-generated questions and lets you create custom topics and difficulty settings. If AI is unavailable, QuizScreen falls back to a built-in pack.

Can I customize quiz topics in QuizScreen?

Yes, with Premium. You can save custom quiz topics, choose a difficulty, and control which topics are active. Free mode uses randomized built-in General Knowledge, Math, English, and History questions.

Do I need an account to use QuizScreen?

No. QuizScreen does not require you to create an account. Your quiz settings and progress are stored primarily on your device, while Apple and RevenueCat manage purchases and subscription status.

Is there a free mode in QuizScreen?

Yes. Core app blocking, every unlock duration, randomized built-in quizzes, and basic streak totals are free. You do not need a subscription to block or temporarily unlock apps.

How does the QuizScreen subscription work?

Premium unlocks AI-generated questions, custom quiz topics and difficulty, detailed history, achievements, and advanced progress insights. Purchases are processed by Apple and subscription access is managed through RevenueCat. Current prices and trial eligibility are always shown in the app before purchase.

Does QuizScreen track my learning progress?

Yes. Free mode includes basic streak totals. Premium adds detailed session history, achievements, and advanced progress insights. Progress is stored on your device.

Overview

QuizScreen helps you reduce distracting screen time by requiring a short quiz before temporarily unlocking apps you choose. This policy explains how QuizScreen and the service providers used by the app handle information.

Information stored on your device

QuizScreen stores the following information locally:

Your quiz topics, difficulty preferences, saved quizzes, and active quiz settings.
Quiz-session history, streaks, achievements, and aggregate progress.
Your selected unlock duration and onboarding preferences.
Opaque application tokens supplied by Apple's Family Controls framework, together with blocking and unlock deadlines. These tokens do not reveal the content you view inside selected apps.

Quiz and history data is stored using SwiftData. Family Controls tokens and blocking deadlines are stored in an App Group shared only by QuizScreen and its Screen Time extensions. Deleting QuizScreen removes its locally stored app data, subject to normal iOS backup and restoration behavior.

QuizScreen uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to:

Let you choose individual apps to block.
Apply a Screen Time shield to those apps.
Temporarily remove a shield after you complete a quiz.
Restore the shield when a finite unlock expires.

QuizScreen does not receive the content you view in blocked apps. App selections are represented by privacy-preserving opaque tokens supplied by Apple.

Optional AI question generation

When a Premium user requests AI questions, QuizScreen sends the selected subject, topic, subtopic, difficulty, and generation instructions. It does not intentionally include your selected blocked apps, Screen Time activity, contacts, precise location, name, or email address.

RevenueCat

Subscriptions and entitlements

RevenueCat may receive an anonymous app user identifier, product identifiers, purchase and subscription history, entitlement status, app version, and related technical information. Apple processes payments; QuizScreen does not receive your payment-card or bank details.

Firebase Remote Config

App configuration

Firebase Remote Config retrieves settings such as feature availability, maintenance status, and AI configuration. It may process technical and regional information needed to provide the service. QuizScreen does not include Firebase Analytics or Firebase Crashlytics.

Bugsnag

Crash diagnostics and reliability

Bugsnag may receive crash reports, stack traces, diagnostic breadcrumbs, an automatically generated installation or device identifier, app sessions, device model, operating-system and app versions, locale, memory state, and related technical diagnostics.

App Store privacy summary

Depending on the features you use, QuizScreen and its providers may process:

Other user content, such as a custom quiz topic sent for AI question generation.
Anonymous user and device identifiers.
Purchase history.
Product interaction and session information used for reliability.
Crash data and other diagnostic data.

QuizScreen does not sell this information, use it for third-party advertising, or use it to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. QuizScreen does not link these categories to a named account or real-world identity.

Data retention and deletion

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or delete QuizScreen. Information handled by Apple, OpenRouter, RevenueCat, Firebase, and Bugsnag is retained according to each provider's policies and the configuration of QuizScreen's accounts with those providers.

Children

QuizScreen does not knowingly request a child's name, email address, or other direct contact information. Parents and guardians should review the app and its optional AI and subscription features before allowing a child to use them.
